Dixie Youth World Series Honored as a 2019 Champion of Economic Impact
Experience Ruston is excited to announce that Sports Destination Management, the leading publication with the largest circulation of sports event planners and tournament directors in the sports tourism market, has announced the 2019 Champions of Economic Impact in Sports Tourism.

This year’s winners are responsible for contributing more than $1 billion to the national economy over the past year.
Among the winners is the Dixie Youth World Series hosted at the Ruston Sports Complex July 26-August 8, 2019. The economic impact for the event totaled at $6,280,799.88 with 76 teams and 13K spectators in Ruston & Lincoln Parish.
“The 2019 Dixie Youth Baseball World Series was a tremendous success for Ruston and all of North Louisiana,” says Travis Napper, Experience Ruston President/CEO. “It was an opportunity for partnerships and support throughout our community. All groups and individuals who were involved should be proud of this event that was put on with the leadership of the City of Ruston and the new Ruston Sports Complex.”

“Not only was the 2019 Dixie World Series an incredible opportunity for Ruston to showcase our new facility, it made a huge economic impact for North Louisiana,” says City of Ruston Mayor Ronny Walker. “Our community welcomed thousands of people for the World Series, volunteered at the complex, and hosted teams while they were in town. The Dixie World Series was a win-win for Ruston and North Louisiana.”
The event was also seen as a great opportunity to highlight the Ruston community to visitors from all over the south. Teams, families, and fans were complimentary of the people of Ruston and expressed gratitude for the hospitality they were shown from locals and businesses. Throughout the tournament, fans were able to support Ruston’s restaurants, shops, and attractions as well as experience Ruston’s downtown district.
