Guide to Grambling State University’s Homecoming Weekend
There is no more anticipated week of the year at Grambling State University than Homecoming Week. It’s a special time when students, alumni, and fans from all over the country come together to celebrate their alma mater and cheer on the Tigers.

It’s a special time when students, alumni, and fans from all over the country come together to celebrate their alma mater and cheer on the Tigers. While Grambling’s 2021 Homecoming looks a little different than previous years, there is no shortage of activities and traditions to safely take part in. Here’s a look at how to get the most out of Grambling’s Homecoming festivities this year.
Pre-Game
Homecoming Week Events
Grambling kicks off the Homecoming celebrations on Sunday, October 10 with a Praise and Worship service in T.H. Harris Auditorium at noon, a Homecoming tradition. Other events will be happening all week long across campus, see the schedule of events below for more info. Be sure to check on individual events regarding COVID-19 safety protocols.
You won’t want to miss the Homecoming Concert on Thursday, October 14 at 7pm in the Hobdy Assembly Center featuring Lucky Daye, Yung Bleu, and Est Gee. On Friday, October 15, start the day off on the putting green at the Fred D. Hearn Memorial Scholarship Golf Classic at Trail’s End, then get in the Gram Fam spirit at the Homecoming Pep Rally at 3pm in the Quad.
Alumni will want to register for several weekend events including the Black & Bougie Masquerade on Friday, the Casino Royale II Party on Saturday, and the Alumni Breakfast Bar on Sunday. More info and registration for the events can be found here.
Where to Stay
Any of Ruston’s area hotels are the logical choice, all being located within 15 minutes of the stadium. Rooms book up quick on Homecoming Weekend, so be sure to call as early as possible to book your stay. If you want to add a little adventure to your game day experience, rent a camping or RV site at the beautiful Lincoln Parish Park.
Game Day
What to Wear
You’ll want to be sure to rep your Gram Fam pride with black and golf attire on game day. Grambling gear can be found at several local businesses including The Collegiate Shoppe, QualiTees, Realitees, and Barnes & Noble at Grambling State.
Parking
In addition to reserved tailgating spaces, there is plenty of on-campus parking for visitors and fans.Note: General parking on campus is cash only.
Tailgating
Grambling’s Homecoming tailgate never disappoints, with fans set up in tents and RVs all around the Eddie G. Robinson Stadium. Reserved tailgating spots are already full, but fans are encouraged to come out early to enjoy food, music, activities, and celebrate the Tigers, starting with the Homecoming Parade at 9am on Main Street.
Game Time
The G-Men will be taking on Texas Southern University at 2pm on October 16 in the Hole. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time online here. On-site tickets can be purchased at Gates 2 and 5 with cash only or at the ticket window outside of Frederick C. Hobdy Assembly Center with a credit card. As a reminder, Grambling State Athletics has a clear bag policy in effect.
COVID-19 Protocol: Any person 12 years of age and up must show a valid photo ID with a vaccination card OR a negative test result. Grambling State Athletics would also like to remind fans that masks will be required for fans and associates in all enclosed spaces, including clubs and suites when feasible and appropriate.
Post-Game
Following the game, head to The Yard for a post-game day party to celebrate the victory we know the Tigers are going to secure.
There are several alumni events planned post-game, including the Casino Royale II Party and the Alumni Breakfast Bar.
On Sunday, Homecoming Week culminates with The Big Event at 8am on Grambling’s Campus, followed by Sunday Funday Brunch at 11am in the McCall Dining Center.
While things look a little different this football season, there’s still no better place to be than oh Grambling, dear Grambling on Homecoming Weekend!
