Guide to Grambling State University’s Homecoming Weekend

There is no more anticipated week of the year at Grambling State University than Homecoming Week. It’s a special time when students, alumni, and fans from all over the country come together to celebrate their alma mater and cheer on the Tigers.

As we celebrate this year’s Homecoming theme: "Where Everybody is Somebody," Grambling’s 2026 Homecoming has no shortage of activities and traditions to welcome you back to your alma mater. Here’s a look at how to get the most out of Grambling’s Homecoming festivities this year.

Pre-Game

Homecoming Week Events

Grambling kicks off the Homecoming celebrations on Monday, September 28, with their Gospel Concert at 7pm. Thursday, October 1, is the The World Famed Marching Band Centennial Gala & Concert, an exclusive look at the history and future of the Grambling band. Other student activites, career fairs, and events are happening all week long, so be sure to check the schedule of events here!

On Friday, October 2, start the day off on the putting green at the Fred D. Hearn Memorial Scholarship Golf Classic at Trail’s End, then get in the Gram Fam spirit at the Homecoming Yard Fest Pep Rally at 1pm in Founders Plaza. Next, attend the Brick Dedication Celebration at the National Alumni Center at 2pm, and keep the festivities going by attending the Homecoming Concert at 8pm.

Alumni will want to register for several weekend events including the Hearn Memorial Gold Classic, Homecoming concert, The World Famed Centennial Gala & Concert, and Distinguished 10 Award Ceremony. More info and registration for the events can be found here.

Where to Stay

Any of Ruston’s area hotels are the logical choice, all being located within 15 minutes of the stadium. Rooms book up quick on Homecoming Weekend, so be sure to call as early as possible to book your stay. If you want to add a little adventure to your game day experience, rent a camping or RV site at the beautiful Lincoln Parish Park.

Game Day

What to Wear
You’ll want to be sure to rep your Gram Fam pride with black and gold attire on game day. Grambling gear can be found at several local businesses including Realitees, and Barnes & Noble at Grambling State.

Parking
In addition to reserved tailgating spaces, there is plenty of on-campus parking for visitors and fans. General admission parking is available at Carver Hall, Charles P. Adams, and the Digital Library backlot at a rate of $25 per vehicle. Limited mobility and handicapped parking is available on Doug Williams Drive for $25, with a state-issued handicapped tag required for entry. Spaces are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tailgating
Grambling’s Homecoming tailgate never disappoints, with fans set up in tents and RVs all around the Eddie G. Robinson Stadium. Reserved tailgating spots are already full, but fans are encouraged to come out early to enjoy food, music, activities, and celebrate the Tigers, starting with the Homecoming Parade at 10am on Main Street.

Game Time
The G-Men will be taking on Texas Southern at 6pm on October 11 in the Hole. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time online here. As a reminder, Grambling State Athletics has a clear bag policy in effect.

Post-Game

While you're still in town, head over to McCall Dining Hall on Sunday, Oct 12 for Beyond Breakfast: The Final Quarter. Dine with your fellow alumni and continue the homecoming celebrations.
