To kick start your day, head over to Board & Bottle for an array of breakfast options, along with smoothies for the kiddos and specialty lattes for mom and dad. Or stop by Ruston's cozy brunch spot, Lula Perl Cafe, for delicious pastries, coffee, and specialty brunch items.

Ruston has a great variety of family-friendly local dining options. Some favorites include pizza at Rotolo’s, barbeque at Reauxlin Smoke, Tex-Mex & more at Log Cabin, and burgers or seafood from Flying Burger.

For your post-meal sweet treat, snag a cupcake from Uptown Downtown or some frozen custard from Eskamoe’s, conveniently located next to a playground so the kiddos can burn off some energy.

The Ruston community is rich in art, and sprinkled throughout the city you can find pieces crafted by regional artists. Turn your afternoon into a scavenger hunt and search for all the murals and 22 bulldog statues all scattered across town.

For an interactive learning experience, visit the Eddie G. Robinson Museum. Grambling State University’s campus is home to the impressive Eddie G. Robinson Museum and features interactive activities for everyone to enjoy. Throw a football, pick up a phone call from President Bill Clinton, or view the Grambling football hall of professional football players.

Catch some live entertainment at the historic Dixie Center for the Arts. You can view a Ruston Community Theatre performance, free kids movies during the summer, or musicians from all over the country. Check out our calendar of events to find their next show.

Experience

Dive into sportsman’s paradise at Lincoln Parish Park. Choose from mountain biking, fishing, swimming, walking the trails, or playing on the playground. If camping is your thing, spend a few nights on their campgrounds!

Make sure to get you're shopping done in historic Downtown Ruston. For mom, we recommend The Fashion of Ruston, for dad we recommend Patton's Downtown, and for the kids, we recommend The Children’s Shoppe. A few of our other favorites are No 9 Books and Records, Garden Baby, and The Collective.

Grab the whole crew and catch a college sports game! Louisiana Tech University and Grambling State University offer exciting matchups year-round. Cheer on the home team, enjoy classic sports snacks, and soak in the lively atmosphere that makes game day in Lincoln Parish so special. A trip to Ruston isn't complete without a visit to Mitcham Farms peach orchard. During peach season, you can find fresh peaches and the most delicious peach ice cream. Don’t worry if you’re coming in the off-season, there's plenty of peach goodies in the store year-round.
