Date Night in Ruston

January 13, 2019Written by: Amanda Quimby Carrier, TMP

There’s not much that sets a romantic mood for an evening quite like fine dining and a night out on the town. Whether it’s a special occasion, anniversary, or some much-deserved time away from responsibilities at home, you’ll find the perfect little getaway right here in Ruston. Start planning a special date night with your significant other with this list of recommendations.

Dining

Beau Vines Steakhouse – Beau Vines is a date night favorite for many. Their menu includes steakhouse classics like a succulent filet mignon and premium ribeye, but also twists on favorites like the salmon cooked with lemon juice, butter, and Creole seasoning then covered with a Louisiana satsuma glaze. View their complete menu here, and be sure to ask for specials. Each dish can be paired with wine or a Beau Vines signature cocktail, and of course, completed with delectable dessert options.

RAW Restaurant – RAW may just be the best sushi you’ll eat. Not only can you expect fresh and delicious dishes whether cooked or raw, but the atmosphere of this restaurant is unlike anything else you’ll experience in North Louisiana. Grab a cocktail and head upstairs to their more secluded waiting area. When it’s time to order – be adventurous with dishes like squid salad or the spicy Holla-Peno roll, play it safe with items you know, or allow the chef to be creative for you with the chef’s special.

Utility Brewing – Utility Brewing is the perfect place for a casual date! Cozy up inside or enjoy the outdoor patio. Utility's specialty pizzas are a must-try and you can end the night on a sweet note with their creamy Nutella pizza topped with creme fraiche and powdered sugar. Craft brews, wine, and specialty cocktails are also on the menu! You can even add your date's name to the "Buy A Friend A Beer" wall to enjoy later.

Entertainment

Dixie Center for the Arts – Take in some culture at Ruston’s historic Dixie Theatre. Productions include concerts, theatrical performances "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "The Sound of Music," independent films, and more. Check out their online calendar for what’s upcoming.

The Revelry of Ruston – Formerly the well-remembered “Rabb’s,” the Revelry offers a variety of musical performances throughout the month. Travis Tritt, Pat Green, and Frank Foster have made it to their stage as well as local and regional talents. Visit their website for what’s next and how to get tickets.

Celebrity Theatres – Catching a movie at the local theatre is a quick and easy answer to any date night. Popcorn, Milk Duds, and the latest blockbuster might be all you need. Celebrity Theatres is easily accessible from Interstate 20 and is conveniently located near restaurants and shops. Pick your showtime here

Something Different

Interested in activities that are a little more hands-on, or maybe something to do for a double date? Think outside of the box.

Ruston Artisans – This unique event space/art studio downtown offers weekly experiences and social events like cooking classes, art demos, educational workshops, exhibitions, and more. Visit their Facebook page for upcoming events.

I-20 Escape – Perfect for a double date or group outing, this escape room will have couples working together to beat the clock. One hour, one exit. Solve puzzles and brain teasers to escape in time. Book your date by visiting their website or calling (318) 224-7188.

Sporting Events – When you visit Louisiana’s College Town, you can expect a full schedule of sporting events from LA Tech and Grambling State University. Regardless of the season, these teams have our events calendar full. Pick a day and see who the Bulldogs and Tigers will be hosting.
