Fall is Ruston’s busiest time of year. Between game days for Louisiana Tech and Grambling State University and Ruston’s lively downtown district, there’s never a weekend without something to do! Our online calendar is filled with live music, theatrical performances, films, and so much more; but we can’t stop talking about these select events that are absolute “must-attends” for the fall.
This day-long celebration of local artists and makers is a visitor favorite. The event showcases the unique culture and creativity of North Louisiana. Attendees can shop works from local artists and craftsmen with everything from original paintings and pottery to handmade jewelry, tapestries, and more. Bring the entire family out to support the arts culture of the area and enjoy area food trucks and local musicians all in historic downtown Ruston. The event is free to attend and open to the public. For information on this year’s Ruston Makers Fair, Ruston Makers Fair on Facebook.
2. Artoberfest
Brought to you every year by the North Central Louisiana Arts Council (NCLAC), this beer tasting event is another Ruston favorite. Artoberfest features area homebrewers competing for the best brew while attendees enjoy sampling beers and bites from local food trucks. Live music is also on-site along with photo ops and other fun surprises! Tickets are limited so purchase them as early as possible on NCLAC’s website.
3. Homecoming Weekend(s)
When you’re in Louisiana’s College Town, game-day festivities are huge, especially during homecoming - the ultimate pep fest. Whether you’re cheering on GSU or LA Tech (or both!), you won’t want to miss the concerts and live entertainment, parades, band performances, and other special events celebrating the two universities. Check out Grambling State University and Louisiana Tech online for dates and upcoming events.
Even in its inaugural year, we're certain this downtown event will be one to look forward to for each year to come! Downtown Wine Walk is a walkable wine-tasting throughout downtown Ruston. Guests can pick up their keepsake wine glass in Railroad Park and set out with their wine-walking map to enjoy tastings and paired snacks from downtown merchants! Acoustic musicians are also scattered throughout downtown to provide entertainment as you stroll. For more, visit Downtown Ruston on Facebook.
