Full Course Feature Bonus: Ruston Lunch

November 18, 2020Written by: Tori Davis

This fall, we’ve been celebrating our local Ruston restaurants in our Full Course Feature series. We highlighted a handful of signature menu items from local restaurants for each course – from drinks to dessert. But we couldn’t help but feel like we were missing some of our favorite local eateries and the signature dishes they serve up at lunchtime, so we decided to add a bonus feature!

If you need a good recommendation for lunch in Ruston & Lincoln Parish, look no further than these local favorites.

Grown and Grazed is a food truck located in the Heard Freighthouse Food Truck Park that serves up hearty breakfast and lunch options. While we definitely recommend checking out their weekly specials, there’s just no beating their signature bacon jam burger. We suggest pairing it with a side of sweet potato fries.

Fried Pork Chops at Nana’s Soulfood

Looking for some home-style comfort food? Nana’s has you covered. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but their perfectly-fried pork chops are a local favorite best enjoyed with a side of collard greens, yams, and creamed corn. Our stomachs are officially growling.

BBQ Tacos at Bad Wolf BBQ

Tacos? At a Texas-style BBQ food truck? We know it’s a bit untraditional, but trust us, you need to try the tacos from Bad Wolf. Your choice of slow-smoked meat is topped with onions, peppers, house-made pico, white sauce, and queso fresco, all served on toasted tortillas. They live up to the hype.

Gyro Sandwich at Appetizers Grill

Appetizers is a hidden gem in Ruston located just north of Louisiana Tech’s campus. This local eatery is known for its diverse menu and famous gyro sandwiches. While they also have a gyro burger, poboy, and salad, we can’t get over their traditional gyro. Try it with a side of seasoned potatoes.

Torta at Tacos the Guero

Signature Torta at Tacos the Guero

We’ve been drooling over the food at Tacos the Guero since their early days of serving tacos out of a food truck. Since then, they’ve brought so many delicious, authentic Mexican dishes to Ruston, including their signature torta – a flavor-packed sandwich featuring your choice of steak, chicken, or seasoned pork.

Still hungry? Check out the Full Course Feature series for our recommendations on the best Ruston drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. To view a full list of dining options in Ruston and Lincoln Parish, visit our website or view our dining guide.
