This fall, we’re celebrating our local Ruston restaurants and the signature drinks and dishes that have made them must-visit dining spots. Each week, we’ll highlight a handful of signature menu items from local restaurants for each course – from drinks to dessert.
This week, we’re shining the spotlight on some of the most-loved entrées in Ruston. These signature dishes offer unique flavors that are sure to leave an impression on your taste buds.
A local favorite, Brister’s is known for having some of the best barbecue in North Louisiana. While we’re big fans of the entire menu, the pulled rib sandwich is a game changer. We recommend it topped with smoked cheddar and a generous amount of Brister’s tangy BBQ sauce served on a sourdough bun.
A staple of Downtown Ruston, Ponchatoulas is known for several of their signature Cajun dishes, but their Crawfish Shirley has a special place in our hearts. It’s hard to go wrong when you sauté crawfish in butter and green onions then toss it with pasta in a creamy, white wine sauce. Are you drooling yet?
We often hear the phrase “best pancakes ever” when talking about Champs Sports Restaurant. With pancakes this good, it’s easy to see why they are a featured entrée all day long. Whether you like pecan, blueberry, chocolate chip, cinnamon or classic maple, they've got a perfect pancake for you.
While you can’t go wrong with a Dawg House burger, there’s just something special about Claude's Burger. Maybe it’s the juicy patty topped with all the fixings plus melty pepper jack cheese, crisp bacon, and jalapeños…..yep, that’s definitely it. Oh, and don’t forget the curly fries!
When it comes to sushi, it’s hard to beat the fresh ingredients and unique flavors at RAW. While the entire sushi menu is phenomenal, we like to mix it up with the Chef Special roll. Let the chef work his magic with a totally unique, off-the-menu roll made with your preferences in mind. It really takes the whole dining experience to a new level!
In just a bite, it’s easy to see why the Lobster Ravioli is a fan favorite. Their lobster-stuffed ravioli are cooked to perfection and topped with Roma’s signature “pink sauce.” We recommend saving some bread for dipping, as the sauce is different level delicious.
If you’re looking for authentic, delicious tacos, look no further than Mi Casa Taqueria in Downtown Ruston. From breakfast varieties to perfectly seasoned carne asada, the tacos at Mi Casa steal the show. Be sure to add a touch of their signature avocado salsa to your tacos - it’s oh so tasty.
It’s all in the name – Scott’s Catfish & Seafood is a hometown favorite known for their fresh, crispy-fried catfish. Pair their famous catfish filets with hand-cut fries or crispy onion rings for the ultimate southern dining experience. And don’t skip the hushpuppies!
